Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum

The latest outing by Lal Jose and team. Scripted by M.Sindhuraj and Produced by Balcony 6 Entertainments.

Lal jose tells us the story of Chakka Gopan aka Aadu Gopan (Kunchako Boban) and his 3 brothers named Chakka Maniyan (Irshad), Chakka Vijayan (Shiju) and Chakka Suku (Joju).  The story is set at current Kuttanadu.

Story starts with chasing of Gopan by some people who want to take revenge of  his brothers beating them. Gopan is the bread earning member of the house. His 3 brothers spend their time drinking, quotation and merry making. Their doings are so bad that, their neighbor Kapyar, is unable to sell his house because of being "Chakka Kootam's" neighbor.

Gopan owns a house boat which is on loan from bank. He lures the tourists arriving at Alapuzha to his boat, by playing with words and free entertainment. He once brings Kainakari Jayasree (Namitha Pramod) to perform Mohiniyattam with the help of Mamachan (Suraj Venjaramoodu), when he can't find any other performers, and who after words becomes Gopan's house boats permanent performer.

By an unintended statement made by Gopan to police, Kuriyachan (Shammi Thilakan) is arrested by police which ruins his political career as well as his family life. After that Kuriyachan tries in many ways to take revenge on Gopan. Where as Gopan is trying hard to change his brothers. Also budding is his love with Jayasree.

The movie has some great humors which may become classics. The first half is simply entertaining. But second half drags and at most occasions the story is predictable. Kunchako Boban was at his best as well as Suraj. Suraj has some good scenes too other than his usual comedy.

The master stroke is delivered by cinematographer S.Kumar who has absolutely captured the beauty of Kuttanad. Lal jose has taken care not only to show the usual locals of Kuttanad, but how things actually are. Like, the flooded houses, cremation of body, life of house boat employees.

On the whole, Lal jose takes us on a beautiful boat ride and shows us half of Kuttanad and send us back to shore in a fully covered speed boat.
