India Against Corruption

Anna Hazare.. A person, not heard about so much in Indian Politics. Suddenly he is the buzz.. Lakhs of people supporting his cause. 1000s of fans in facebook and twitter. Why? What has he done? Lots before has done sathyagraha. So whats the diffrence? Why so much of fanfare? Why Government is so much worried over his Sathyagraha?

Is it because of his image? Is it because, we are fed up of the mis-managements by political parties in power? Does it has anything to do with recent unrest in Egypt & Libiya?

I think, its because all of this. We had seen some good, non-tainted leader in politics. Whom we belived or we still belive. But those people never rose to people's expectations. They had raised voice in some occation, but when it comes to counter their party or its member, they keep mum. They step back. It has happend before and will happen again. The lacked the will power to lead and to oppose.

Recently we have seen scams unveling as never before. Sacms including a huge amount of money, high ranked politicians, high ranked officers. And the governmenthesitated to take actions. They were more intrested in blame game.

Also we, the common people we more encouraged with recent unrest in Libiya and Egypt. We also wanted to react. We also wanted to raise voice. But we never knew how to. We never had a leader. We never knew the way. And when a person, who had a clean image, who has a low profile, who never belonged to any ruling government, raised his voice, naturaly we were ready to follow him. We see a leader in him, whom we missed for long. Anna Hazare by selecting sathyagraha, the long forgotten way of protest, it only reinforced our belief. And when he decided not to backtrack on his demands, our respect for him grew.  We seen in him a leader, a leader whom we can follow.

Maybe he won't rise to the expectations. Maybe he will stepdown, when time to lead. But we are ready to take the risk. Because its time to raise the voice. We had remained silent for a long time. Lots had eaten on our tax money. Lots have thrived on our silence.

Not anymore. This protest, this unrest its not merely about 'Lokpal' bill. Its a bold statement by the common man. Its by this we are saying enough is enough. By this post, I pledge my support to Anna Hazare. I'm doing my bit What can you do?
